‘Sumerie Dining’ is a dining project run by Soyeon Ahn and Ying-Ting Shen, two Asian women who have reloacted to the Netherlands. Soyeon, from Korea, is the chef and fermentation researcher at Stretch & Fold. She first started cooking while living with her maternal grandparents. Her work focuses on preserving the memory of old traditions and authentic recipes for sustainable habits. Ying-Ting is a multidisciplinary artist and designer from Taiwan. She focuses on the study of social and environmental issues, often present it through installations. She turns your precious memories into tangible elements on your dinner table.
Sumerie Dining invites you to pop-up event called “No Waste Dinner”, creating a sense of community through an immersive ceremonial dining inspired by the spirit of Buddhism. Indulge in a 3-course dinner made from locally grown seasonal ingredients and transformed using various fermentations, and served in specially selected bowls. The dishes served will be vegan. The aim of this dinner is for everyone who participates to truly accept the meals on their plates with the heart of a practitioner, appreciate the hard work that goes into preparing the food, and accumulate new blessings.
As well as this we will be honoured with a very special performance from world class violinist and local yogi Jeffrey Bruinsma.
